Anyone know what causes this? Davey screams and writhes in terrible pain everytime he is on his back and his legs extend, knees out. I can only describe it looking like a rotiserie chicken kind of form, legs bent at knees but outward. It has been like this for a few weeks now and the only relief we can give is by rolling him on his side an holding down his legs in a fetal position. He is fine in any other position but on his back like that.
At first I thought he had knocked out his back. It is so hard figuring out what to do. Last time this happened we took him to the Urgent Care where they looked at him, and took blood to check for inflammation in the joints but they could not understand what was happening either.
There are days when I wonder whether things will get any easier as they grow older. Some new injury always seem to pop up just when I am ready to sit down and relax :)
Any thoughts on how to ease this pain and what causes it?
I have no idea if this could be like Ruch but she went through a terrible time screaming half the night from leg pain. We were told that she was probably having muscle spasms in her legs because she does not use her muscles to walk and she twists her legs in all sort of positions. We had input from her Physiotherapist, Neurologist and Nephrologist. We did all the things they suggested not sure which or if all are helping but the leg pain and crying at night has stopped.
. 1.We got knee immobilizers and put them on when she is in bed so she can not twist her legs in all positions at night.
2. before we put them on each night we massage her legs and do stretching of her muscles to keep leg range.
3. we give her 200 cc of tonic water in before she goes to sleep at night. since she has a gastro we put in the the feeding bag.
4. we give her 40 IU of vitamin E every evening.
If the doctors do not find any thing else it might me muscle spasms like Ruch
Hope you find and answer soon.
